When preparing to move items into your storage room or locker, prevention is the key to avoiding damage to your valuable belongings.
Here are some tips:
* Place as many items in boxes as possible. Unboxed items stored in your self-storage unit may be exposed to dust and dirt.
* Label all boxes on the top and at least one side. Stack boxes with the labels facing outward for easy identification (i.e., “memorabilia,” “baby clothes,” “sports equipment”)
* Separate lamp bases from their shades and wrap securely. Store lamp shades in a box to help prevent crushing.
* Stack chairs seat-to-seat to save space. Draping a dust cover over stacked chairs and other furniture will help keep them clean and dust-free.
* Pack books flat to avoid damage to their spines. Be careful not to pack too many books in one box due to their weight.
